Product Description

Lenovo ThinkPad  X300 Series 13.3 Notebook PC (64781TU)     The new ThinkPad X300 notebook is a breakthrough, full-featured business ultraportable thats vastly more energy-efficient than previous models and forces none of the compromises typical of other ultraportable systems. You often have to sacrifice features, durability or style for portability. But not with the X300. Its solid as a rock, thanks to the patent-pending, carbon-fiber/glass-fiber ThinkPad roll cage technology and other advances such as Flash-based Solid State Drives with no moving parts. In terms of style, its closer to the size of an actual paper notebook than a ThinkPad notebook has ever been, measuring less than 3/4th of an inch at its thinnest and starting at just 2.93 lb. Even with the ultra-thin DVD burner its still an amazing 3.13 lb. And the X300 offers numerous design flourishes including a glossy bottom bezel, select illuminated buttons and - for the first time in the X Series - an integrated camera option and stereo speakers.Positioning TacticsUltimate portability- Thin, light and loaded with leading-edge technologies- Extremely long battery life and multiple battery options- ThinkPad legacy of reliability and durability Energy-efficient and environmentally-responsible- Lenovos first EPEAT Gold rated notebook- Energy Star 4.0 qualified- Energy saving features like Solid State Drives, low voltage dual core processors, power saving software features and mercury free LED backlight displays- Designed to reduce toxic materials- More than 90% recyclable materials by weight Rock solid engineering- Advanced materials such as carbon fiber and glass fiber offer extra protection and improve portability- ThinkVantage Technologies improve productivity and lower Total Cost of Ownership (TCO)- Thoughtful design enhances user experience- Industry-leading security solutions State-of-the-art technologies- Solid State Drives improve performance and lower powe...

5great laptop
By Travel Man
I have own it for more than half a year now. It is a great laptop. The most enjoyable feature is its light weight. I travel a lot and it saves my back. What's amazing is that in this slick baby it comes with 3 USB ports, a ultra-compact DVD that helps me enjoy movies on the go, a built-in cam and mic, and much more. The sound of the speakers, which are hide within the case, is great! Much better than many other laptop speakers. This is very convenient when you are in a hotel room and have no access to good surround sound systems, yet would like to enjoy a little piece of movie without plug you ears with uncomfortable earphones.

The only little disappointment is its battery life. I bought one that claimed to last 6 hours, but at most it last about 4 hours. After half a year, it now lasts about 2 hours. I wish this can be improved.

Overall, I love it. I will recommend this one to my friends if the portability is their major concern in choosing a laptop.

4One of the best laptops I've had. Surprised about other reviews
By andresmh
I love how sturdy and lightweight the X300 is. Like most Thinkpads, it looks deceivingly simple (plain black), this is great because it doesn't attract too much attention when traveling in not so safe areas.

One thing that often gets ignored, but it ends up being very important, is the dimensions and weight of the AC adapter; the one that comes with the X300 is very small.

I got mine with 4GB RAM which can only be fully used with a 64-bit OS. I installed Ubuntu and I was quite pleased that most things worked "out of box", even the built-in CDMA modem and webcam!

The solid state drive is great but I am not sure it's worth the high price. It's a small drive, which is fine for most people, but the newer model (x301) has a much bigger disk.

The WLAN is fantastic. I got the Verizon service and its coverage is very good.

I used to have a Sony Vaio before this one and I really appreciate the built-in mic. Also, the Vaio was very fragile, this one is much tougher.

Lenovo's customer service is good, much better than Sony, Acer or HP.

Battery life is average, I wish it was better. I also wish it had a SD card reader. I don't give it 5 stars just because of that.

1Will never buy another Lenovo
By redwood
Just getting this machine from Lenovo was difficult. Absolutely the worst customer service ever. The product itself is ok; thin? yes light? yes. But the positives pretty much end there. This thing is so buggy someone in China should be very embarrassed. Constant issues and crashing on a $3,000 machine is simply not acceptable. The screen and battery life leave a lot to be desired IMO as well. Save your money; buy something for half the price that actually works.
